OJEE
Odisha Joint Entrance Examination
About this exam — pattern, marking, syllabus and where it leadsShowHide
There is one thing to establish about OJEE before anything else: first-year B.Tech admission in Odisha is NOT through this exam any more — it is through JEE Main, with the OJEE Board running only the counselling. OJEE itself tests B.Pharm, lateral entry to the second year of B.Tech and B.Pharm, nursing, and the postgraduate courses. There is also a second, special OJEE that serves as a B.Tech route for candidates who did not sit JEE Main.
- Duration
- 1 to 2 hours depending on the course. B.Pharm is 2 hours.
- Papers
- One paper per course stream.
- Mode
- Computer-based test, in English only.
Question formats
- B.Pharm — 120 questions — Physics 40, Chemistry 40, and either Mathematics 40 or Biology 40480 marks. This is where most of the physics is.
- Second / Special OJEE, B.Tech — 60 questions — Mathematics 20, Physics 20, Chemistry 20
- Lateral entry from B.Sc — 60 questions — Mathematics 30, Physics 15, Chemistry 15
- B.Sc Nursing — 100 questions — 20 each of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and Nursing Aptitude
Marking
| Question type | Correct | Partial | Incorrect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Most courses | +4 | — | −1 |
| Nursing courses | +1 | — | No negative marking |
| An unusual rule | A candidate who attempts no question at all is rejected outright and gets no rank. | — | — |

Eligibility and admissions
These change from year to year. Always confirm against the current information brochure before acting on anything here.
- Conducted by:
- The Odisha JEE Committee, under the state's Skill Development and Technical Education Department.
- First-year B.Tech:
- Through JEE Main, not OJEE. MBBS and BDS are through NEET. OJEE runs the counselling for those seats but does not set the test.
- Rank:
- On the entrance marks alone — no board weightage. Nursing uses percentile cut-offs instead: 50th for General, 40th for reserved.
- Eligibility:
- Course-specific. B.Pharm needs Class 12 with Physics and Chemistry plus Mathematics or Biology; lateral entry needs an engineering diploma with about 45%.
Where this exam leads
Through OJEE counselling
The official institute list is published as the counselling brochure each year rather than kept on the site. Check the current OJEE counselling brochure.
IGIT Sarang · Government and government-sponsored engineering and pharmacy colleges across Odisha · Private colleges in the OJEE counselling
Grouped by band rather than ranked one by one, because the ordering changes yearly and a branch at one institute is often worth more than a seat at a higher-ranked one. Check NIRF and the official counselling data before setting your preferences.
We do not publish closing ranks for this exam. Its counselling data is not released in a form we can verify institute by institute, and a plausible-looking invented number is worse than none — take the cut-offs from the conducting body's own counselling reports.
