GUJCET
Gujarat Common Entrance Test
About this exam — pattern, marking, syllabus and where it leadsShowHide
GUJCET is Gujarat's state entrance test for engineering and pharmacy, conducted by the state education board. It is a short paper — 40 physics questions, one mark each — and it is only part of the admission: ACPC combines it with your Class 12 board percentile. Note that the exam has survived a proposal to replace it with JEE Main; it was conducted again in 2026.
- Duration
- 3 hours, reported as Physics and Chemistry together followed by Mathematics or Biology.
- Papers
- One sitting covering Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (or Biology).
- Mode
- Pen-and-paper, OMR sheet, at district centres. Available in Gujarati, English and Hindi.
Question formats
- Physics — 40 four-option MCQs
- Chemistry — 40 four-option MCQs
- Mathematics or Biology — 40 four-option MCQs

Eligibility and admissions
These change from year to year. Always confirm against the current information brochure before acting on anything here.
- Conducted by:
- The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB).
- Admission weightage:
- ACPC combines the GUJCET percentile with the Class 12 PCM percentile. Sources differ on whether that is 50:50 or 60:40 — check the current ACPC admission booklet, because it decides how much your board result matters.
- Boards:
- Marks from different boards are normalised to a common percentile scale before merging.
- JEE Main share:
- A minority of seats in government and grant-in-aid colleges are filled on JEE Main rank instead; self-financed colleges reportedly fill a larger share that way.
- Eligibility:
- Class 12 Science with PCM for engineering or PCB for pharmacy, about 45% aggregate (40% for reserved categories).

Grouped by band rather than ranked one by one, because the ordering changes yearly and a branch at one institute is often worth more than a seat at a higher-ranked one. Check NIRF and the official counselling data before setting your preferences.
We do not publish closing ranks for this exam. Its counselling data is not released in a form we can verify institute by institute, and a plausible-looking invented number is worse than none — take the cut-offs from the conducting body's own counselling reports.
