BITSAT

Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test

About this exam — pattern, marking, syllabus and where it leadsShow

BITSAT is BITS Pilani's own entrance test, and it behaves unlike the national exams. It is fully computer-adaptive in format, heavily speed-driven, and includes English proficiency and logical reasoning alongside PCM. Admission is purely by BITSAT score — board marks are an eligibility threshold, not a weighting — and there is no reservation, so the cut-offs are uniform for everyone.

Duration
3 hours.
Papers
One paper: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning.
Mode
Computer-based test, with an optional extra set of questions if you finish early.

Question formats

  • Physics — Four-option MCQs
  • Chemistry — Four-option MCQs

Where this exam leads

The BITS campuses

Pilani is the most sought-after, but the three campuses share faculty, curriculum and degree.

BITS Pilani — Pilani campus · BITS Pilani — Goa campus · BITS Pilani — Hyderabad campus

Grouped by band rather than ranked one by one, because the ordering changes yearly and a branch at one institute is often worth more than a seat at a higher-ranked one. Check NIRF and the official counselling data before setting your preferences.

We do not publish closing ranks for this exam. Its counselling data is not released in a form we can verify institute by institute, and a plausible-looking invented number is worse than none — take the cut-offs from the conducting body's own counselling reports.

Courses offered

  • • B.E. in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Manufacturing
  • • M.Sc (Hons.) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biological Sciences and Economics — with the well-known option of a dual degree
  • • B.Pharm at the Pilani campus
